The story and characters are really well developed. It handles negative human tendencies like hate, self doubt, guilt, etc very well. Although in real life these sort of emotions can take a while to work through, the author resolved them in her story in a reasonable timeline without making things happen within the blink of an eye nor dragging it out for ever. The book was paced well and both the hero and the heroine were written as human beings with failings that they managed to work through. I also liked the secondary characters worked into the story. I look forward to reading more by the author.Product details

READ THE BOOK - It's really worth the time.... - I wish it would come out in hard copy. It's definitely bookshelf and re-read material.
I'm a book junkie and am always looking for a great book to read. I have read all of Ainslie's books and they just get better and better, AND THIS IS HER BEST YET. She brings her characters to life and she has a real gift at making you imagine you can see and hear the interaction between them.
The relationship between Will and Darcy is sexy and intense, heartbreaking and joyful and their interaction takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. You're taken on a journey from hardship and betrayal - but through shear guts, determination, a lot of smarts and hard work - to personal discovery and love.
Ghosts from the past come back to haunt Will and Darcy needs to discover her self-worth. Ainslie take you on an adventure and you can never guess what coming around the corner.
When is Peter getting his own book?
It's been a long time since I've read a book I could not put down. Fresh, well written, steamy, fabulous characters, suspense....wasn't missing a thing. Enjoyed every word, from start to finish...
What goes on in the land down under? I have read several books now by Aussie writers and not one has been less than great.
This book had me from the first page. The crafting of this story is superb, the writing, the phrasing, the dialogue - first class reading all the way. Not to mention a heroine who is worthy and admirable and who doesn't make you cringe with her juvenile stupidity.
This is my first book from Ainslie Paton and I hope it will be the first of many. Do yourself a favor , start it on a Friday night...you won't want to put it down.
This book was awesome!!!! It was original, engaging, action packed, and kept me guessing. I couldn't love it more!!! It was so smartly written. I cannot wait to read more from this author!!!
Ainslie Paton's Will is a billionaire; driven, complicated - and an engrossing character. This isn't a fairy tale of poor little girl falls in love with a billionaire who sweeps her off her feet and provide everything she needs for the rest of her life. No, it's much, much more than that.
Darcy Campbell has to fight to prove her journalism credentials, and elusive billionaire, Will Parker, is the interview subject that is going to make her career. Unfortunately, Will is nothing like she imagined.
Will has had a childhood even more twisted than Darcy's and has earned every cent of his huge wealth by hard work, a genius for business and sheer, bloody pigheadedness. Then he meets Darcy and soon he will literally go to hell and back for her.
Will and Darcy are strong, intelligent, complicated and wonderful characters. They are two people who must fight for everything they have, even a love neither expected and to keep must also fight their own hang ups and past history. It's a story with enough twists, layers and complexities to keep you enthralled right to the last page - and wish heartily that there was more to come.
A book I thoroughly recommend.
I've read all but one of this author's books (and I've already bought and downloaded it). This book left me feeling emotionally bruised and willing to conquer my fear of confined spaces! Wonderful characters and an emotionally driven plot, this book left me whiplashed with the repercussions of each character's actions and then spinning off in another direction due to the fallout.
At times, I couldn't see how Will and Darcy could ever be together, but the author did a beautiful job of bringing it all together. Ms. Paton's stories never fail to move me to near tears and laughter. I do not quite understand why Ms. Paton's books are not yet published and available in bookstores (and no, I have no connection whatsoever to this author, other than I love her books).
I was very excited to recently discover an Author new to me Ainslie Paton. I thought her newly released 'Floored' was fantastic and was therefore excited there was more where that came from.
Unfortunately for me I struggled to connect with the first half of this book. I ran through the scenarios in my head and I don't really have much of an explanation for it. There was a lot going for the book, but to be honest if I had not been so impressed previously by the Author, I would have stopped reading anywhere from 15 to 50%. I was not feeling it, I lacked the addiction to reading that I usually get from reading a great book. It had potential and, trust me, I am on 'Team Ainslie'!
That said, the second half certainly redeemed itself, it held my interest and was pretty good all round.
On the whole the storyline was awesome, writing was awesome...just missed the mark for me in the first half of the book.
Ainslie can certainly put together a well constructed book. I don't want to put people off, it is a good book. The story was believable which for me is essential.
Certainly check out FLOORED you will not be disappointed.
